Indian T20 League 2023: RAJ vs HYD, Match 52 – Fantasy Preview and Top Picks

Match: Team Rajasthan vs Team Hyderabad, (RAJ vs HYD, Match 52)

Date: May 7, 2023 – 7:30 PM IST

Venue: Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Team Rajasthan and Team Hyderabad are scheduled to face off in match no. 52 of the Indian T20 League 2023. The two teams will meet at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, May 7.

Rajasthan have found themselves in a tricky spot after a very good start to the season. They have lost four out of their previous five games and have slipped to the fourth spot with 10 points from 10 games.

Most recently, Rajasthan lost to Gujarat by nine wickets at home. Sanju Samson looked good with 30 off 20 but could not play a longer knock as their batting completely fell apart, getting bowled out for 118. Their bowlers just didn’t have enough runs on the board as Gujarat completed the chase in 13.5 overs.

Team Hyderabad just haven’t got going in the tournament, losing six of their nine matches. They are second last on the table with six points and a net run-rate of -0.540. They are coming off a close five-run defeat against Kolkata at home.

Marco Jansen and T Natarajan bagged two wickets each as they restricted Kolkata to 171/9 on a good batting surface. Chasing the target, Hyderabad lost four wickets for 54 before Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen added 70 runs to put the team in a strong position. But Klaasen was dismissed for 36 off 20 while Markram fell for 41 off 40 as they lost from an easy equation of 38 required in five overs.

The two teams met earlier this season, where Rajasthan obliterated Hyderabad by 72 runs. Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson scored fifties while Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult starred with the ball. Team Hyderabad will be hoping to settle the scores on Sunday.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur has hosted 17 matches in the league since 2017, with the average batting first score of 162. Bowlers are always in the game here due to long boundaries. Three games have been played here this season with the team batting first scoring 154, 202 and 118.

The match should happen without any interruption as the weather in Jaipur is expected to be clear on Sunday evening.

Team Rajasthan – Expected XI and Team News

Team Rajasthan brought in Adam Zampa in place of Jason Holder in the previous game. The rest of the side is pretty much locked and unlikely to be changed. Jos Buttler has lost his form but remains a top fantasy option. Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Trent Boult are other must picks from this side.

Team Hyderabad – Expected XI and Team News

Team Hyderabad could finally drop Harry Brook, who has had a horrendous season on his first outing in India. Glenn Phillips could get a go in the middle order. Mayank Agarwal’s form is also a concern and they could bring in another domestic batter.

Probable XI – Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Aiden Markram (c), Glenn Phillips, Marco Jansen, Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Kartik Tyagi

Best Captaincy Picks for the RAJ vs HYD match

Jos Buttler: Wicket-keeper Batter, Team Rajasthan

Jos Buttler had an outstanding start to the season with three fifties in the first four games. But his form has completely disappeared, managing only 93 in the next six innings. However, Buttler has the ability to bounce back from this and destroy bowling attacks. He remains a top captaincy option.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Batter, Team Rajasthan

The young Indian batter has been magnificent at the top for Rajasthan. Yashasvi Jaiswal has amassed 442 runs in the ongoing tournament at an average of 44 and strike rate of 158. He has one century and three half centuries in the season. Jaiswal will be a top C/VC option in this game.

Aiden Markram: All-rounder, Team Hyderabad

Aiden Markram hasn’t had a great season this time around but remains a good fantasy option. He is likely to bowl with three left handers in the RR batting line-up. Markram picked a wicket and scored 41 in the previous game. He is a good C/VC option for this fixture.

Top Differential Picks

Adam Zampa: Bowler, Team Rajasthan

Adam Zampa is amongst the best T20 spinners and could do well against a vulnerable Hyderabad batting unit. He’s picked by only 28% of the Rummy Bo teams and can be a good differential option.

Rahul Tripathi: Batter, Team Hyderabad

Rahul Tripathi’s ownership has dropped to 35% after a string of low scores. He has scored only one fifty in the tournament but should enjoy the Rajasthan bowling attack.
