France’s World Cup winner and Golden Boot-winning hero Kylian Mbappe salary at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is an eye-watering €210 million on an annual basis. In 2022, he signed a three-year contract with PSG which will see him pocket €630m in gross salary, the biggest deal ever handed to a sportsperson.
Kylian Mbappé is arguably the most popular footballer in the world right now. He is one of the leaders of the next generation of football to acquire the throne vacated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and his hattrick in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 against Argentina recently was only yet another proof of that.
Although Mbappe hasn’t won the World Player of the Year award yet, he is the highest paid footballer on the planet and is one of the best players of this era. He also won the 2018 World Cup and played a starring role for France during the World Cup in Russia.
Mbappe was at the centre of a huge tussle between Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain over who would win his services in the summer of 2022. PSG eventually came out on top with an eyewatering deal to make sure that the 23-year-old continues his journey in the French league.
But how much does he earn from his lucrative contract at PSG and what do the various endorsements and sponsorships contribute to the net worth of the player? Let’s find out:
Kylian Mbappe salary: Paris Saint Germain contract
Monthly salary | $5.25 million |
Earnings from endorsements | $10 million |
Kylian Mbappe has won four Ligue 1 titles and three Coupes de France and is the highest goalscorer in the history of Paris Saint Germain. As mentioned already, Mbappe’s previous contract with PSG was ending last summer and he was intent on moving to Real Madrid, the club he has always idolised since he was a child.
However, after much thinking and months of intense pressure from PSG and the French authorities, Mbappe finally relented and ended up re-signing his contract at the Parisian club, although on bumper terms.
When re-signing his Paris St. Germain, he said “Because wherever I go, I’m going to get money, I’m this type of player everywhere I go.”
Reports in French outlet La Parisien suggested that the deal with Mbappe contains a staggering €630 million in gross salary by the end of the 2024/25 season. So, he is expected to earn $128 million for the 2022-23 season before taxes and agents’ fees.

A further breakdown of the salary includes a tripling of his salary to €6m a month (€2.7m after tax). Moreover, it also contains a signing-on bonus of €180m and it will be paid over three installments in July every year for the next three years. Mbappe will also receive the full sum of the signing-on fee even if he departs before the end of his contract with PSG.
Moreover, according to sources, his contract with the club also includes a loyalty bonus of €70m at the end of the summer should he continue in France, and it will increase by €10m for every season he remains at the club.
The deal is primarily valid for two years but there is an option for an additional third year which can only be triggered by Mbappe himself. As far as it is known, there are also no performance-related clauses (UEFA Champions League or Ballon d’Or bonuses, for example) in his contract.
It is the most expensive contract ever given to a football and Mbappe is set to take home about 45% of the figures and numbers mentioned in his contract. Mbappe’s salary alone takes up a gigantic quarter of the club’s budget – after taxes!

Even at the age of just 18, Mbappe got his own personalized football boots, Kylian Mbappé Nike Hypervenom 3. He had also played a big role in the unveiling of the Nike Mercurial Superfly VI shoes and the boots were inspired by the Mercurial boots worn by the Brazilian Ronaldo, who Mbappe considers as an idol.
The French World Cup winner became the global ambassador for Hublot in 2020 and ended up replacing legendary track athlete Usain Bolt. CEO Ricardo Guadalupe said of Mbappé’s deal when it was first signed, “The generosity of Pelé and Kylian can be seen in their eyes, as can their love of football. This flame, this inextinguishable strength, is what drives these two great champions. They are inspiring new generations of footballers and writing the history of football, so it was perfectly natural to bring them together. Having them in our family is a great source of pride and pleasure, because before being football stars, they are above all great men who command respect.”
Moreover, Mbappe is also the face of EA Sports. He was on the cover of FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23, becoming one of the youngest players to appear on the cover of the most popular football game in the world. In 2021, he also released a book called “Je m’appelle Kylian,” a graphic novel aimed at inspiring kids to chase their dreams.
There is no doubt that Mbappe is the face of French football in this decade. His influence was widely visible when he refused to participate in a photoshoot and also attend to his commercial duties with the national team in order to protest the French national team’s image rights agreement with its players.
“I have decided to not take part in the photo shoot after the French federation’s refusal to change the image rights agreement with the players,” Mbappe said in a statement.
“My representatives and I fully regret that no agreement could be reached, as asked, before the World Cup.”
In a statement via Reuters, Mbappé was motivated by his own team members to square off with the Federation and fight for their collective rights. “(The group) has always been behind me. From the beginning, it was a collective move. It’s just that I don’t have any problem going to the front of the stage, fighting for my teammates. As I said, it’s not a big deal to take criticism. I’m used to it. It’s not going to change the way I play, or the way I live my life, and if it can help the group get what they want, that’s the main thing,” he added.
Mbappe also runs a charity in France called the Inspired by Kylian Mbappé. It helps 98 children in Paris with funds and is in honour of his birth year in 1998. “I’ve always been a dreamer, ever since I was a child. Today, I want to reach out to young children. We’re not here to sell a dream, but to help them build and achieve their own,” he said when launching the charity.
