Only a few days after the culmination of the T20 World Cup 2021, cricket’s international governing body – the ICC – has revealed names of all the countries that will host the major ICC events held between 2024 and 2031.
The 2024 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup will be played in the United States of America, a venue that has never hosted any major cricket tournament in the past. West Indies, who have previously hosted the 2010 edition, will be the co-hosts alongside the USA.
The following year, in February 2025, Pakistan will be the host country for the Champions Trophy. The 1996 men’s ODI World Cup was the last time when Pakistan hosted an ICC tournament. They were the co-hosts alongside Sri Lanka and India.
“I am pleased with the ICC’s decision to select Pakistan as a host nation for one of their elite tournaments,” PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said. “By allocating a major global event to Pakistan, the ICC has expressed complete confidence and faith in our management and operational capabilities and skills,” he added.
In 2026, India and Sri Lanka will co-host the men’s T20 World Cup, while in 2027, Namibia will host the Men’s ODI World Cup for the first time alongside South Africa and Zimbabwe. South Africa and Zimbabwe last hosted the tournament in 2003.
The 2028 T20 World Cup will be played in Australia and New Zealand, the two teams that played the finals of the 2021 edition. This will be followed by the Champions Trophy next year which will be hosted by India.
In 2030, England will co-host the T20 World Cup with neighbours Ireland and Scotland, while the last event on the calendar – the 2031 men’s ODI World Cup – will be jointly hosted by India and Bangladesh.
