KL Rahul is India’s Mr 360: Sanjay Bangar

Inspite of being on the losing end in the three out of four matches played so far, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) is dubbed as one of the most destructive sides in the concurrent edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

With the firepower in their batting order, they can possibly take on any bowling attack and on their day, tear through the opposition with hits across the stadium.

In the season underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the opening duo of Mayank Agarwal and skipper KL Rahul has been phenomenal with the bat and has got the eyes on themselves for the remaining matches.

Though KXIP failed to chase a target of 192 set by Mumbai Indians, with both Mayank Agarwal (25) and KL Rahul (17) dismissed one after another, the entire cricket fraternity is still hopeful of them making a bounce back in the coming bouts.

Mayank Agarwal can win matches: Sanjay Bangar

KL Rahul has been enjoying a golden run with the bat since IPL 2018. He has been one of the prolific run-getters in the mega T20 tournament, garnering praise from the fans and experts. He struck 69-ball 132* against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Dubai, which is the highest score by an Indian cricketer in IPL history, followed by another half-century against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

For the wide variety of shots that KL Rahul has in his armory, former India cricketer and batting coach Sanjay Bangar, drawing his comparisons to AB de Villiers, hailed him as India’s Mr 360.

“Everyone calls AB de Villiers as Mr 360, I would like to say that KL Rahul is India’s 360,” said Bangar on Star Sports.

The 45-year-old also lauded exhibitions from Mayank Agarwal in the matches played this season, saying that the Karnataka-born has matured as a cricketer.

“He has grown as a cricketer. He now believes he can win matches and he has done that. He has single-handedly taken KXIP to match-winning situations this year,” added Bangar.

Both Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul have managed to clock a century and a half-century each, and are among the highest run-getters in IPL 2020. If the duo continues with their current form, one of them might end up grabbing the Orange Cap in the end.

At present, Mayank has the cap on him, with 246 runs in 4 outings, averaging 61.50, striking at 166.21 while Rahul, averaging 79.66, is occupying the second spot with 239 runs at a strike rate of 148.44.

“Until and unless that Orange Cap stays with Kings XI, I’m happy. He (Agarwal) has worked very hard and deserves that cap. I’m sure I’ll take it off him soon,” Rahul had said after the game against Mumbai Indians in the post-match presentation.

Kings XI Punjab has had a tough run in the matches competed so far. With KL Rahul hinting the need for an all-rounder in the post-match presentation, the fans might get to witness minor changes in the playing XI.

Currently seated at the 6th spot with an NRR of +0.521, the Punjab franchise would now take on the mettle against MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the second game of the double-header on October 4.
