1. Rajasthan Royals – 217/5 vs Kolkata Knight Riders
The inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League had a stellar outing with the bat when they came up against the Kolkata Knight Riders in match 30. Powered by a brilliant hundred from Jos Buttler, the Royals were well on course for a big total.
Despite a minor slip up, Shimron Hetmyer’s fine little cameo ensured they got to 217 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. They had some trouble defending the total, but Yuzvendra Chahal’s outstanding hat-trick and five-fer did the job for Royals by 7 runs.
2. Chennai Super Kings – 216/4 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
One of the best batting renditions of this season came from the bat of Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa for the Chennai Super Kings when they locked horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 22.
Uthappa’s 50-ball 88 and Shivam Dube’s 46-ball 95 helped the 4-time champions post 216 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Dinesh Karthik’s late blitz for RCB denied Chennai a big win, yet they managed to ease through.
3. Delhi Capitals – 215/4 vs Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR fans have witnessed their bowlers getting battered way too often this season and one such massacre happened at the hands of Delhi Capitals. Openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner set a solid platform for the side, scoring fifties and adding 93 runs together.
Towards the end, some stunning power-hitting from Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur took them to 215 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/35 and Khaleel Ahmed’s 3/25 ensured that Delhi finished the game on a high.
4. Lucknow Super Giants – 211/4 vs Chennai Super Kings
This effort from the Lucknow Super Giants is the highest score registered in IPL 2022 from a team batting second. After Chennai Super Kings set a massive 210 run total batting first, the newest entrants of the Indian Premier League made a stellar impact instantly.
Skipper Rahul and Quinton de Kock gave them a solid start up front, post which the mantle was taken over by Evin Lewis. The West Indian registered a 23-ball 55, helping his side get to the winning mark with 3 balls to spare.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders – 210 all out vs Rajasthan Royals
Although this came in a losing cause, the Kolkata Knight Riders nearly pulled off the biggest run chase of IPL 2022 against Sanju Samson’s Pink Army. Chasing 218 runs, Shreyas Iyer’s men remained in front for a decent amount of time in the run chase, scoring at nearly 12 an over.
However, they lost track in the middle overs and Yuzvendra Chahal’s 4-wicket blitz in one over, including a hat-trick, dismantled the purple army. Umesh Yadav provided some late entertainment, but the Royals emerged victorious by the finest of margins.
