About
Hyderabad FC started their journey in 2019 when it replaced the ailing Pune City FC in the Indian Super League. Their inaugural campaign was very poor as they didn’t have enough time to arrange for proper infrastructure.
But they came back with all guns blazing in the following season as they managed to churn out a string of impressive performances in their second season only. But it didn’t happen overnight as they had to start it from the scratch. They brought in some energetic youth talents, set up a proper footballing programme headed by a football director, various brand associations and their successful collaboration with Borussia Dortmund has established their path for the rebuilding process.
They are currently one of the most exciting clubs in the ISL and given their current run of form they might make it to the playoffs this season.

Hyderabad FC: Squad for ISL 2021-22
Goalkeepers: Gurmeet Singh, Lalbiakhlua Jongte, Laxmikant Kattimani
Defenders: Akash Mishra, Asish Rai, Amritpal Singh, Chinglensana Singh, Juanan, Nim Dorjee, Pritam Singh
Midfielders: Abdul Anjukandan, Aniket Jadhav, Sahil Tavora, Edu Garcia, Halicharan Narzary, Hitesh Sharma, Seityasen Singh, Joao Victor, Mark Zothanpuia, Nikhil Poojary, Souvik Chakrabarti, Yasir Mohammad
Forwards: Aaren D’Silva, Bartholomew Ogbeche, Javier Siverio, Joel Chianese, Rohit Danu
The arrival of Bartholomew Ogbeche has boosted Hyderabad’s chances as the 37-year-old has already found the net 9 times in 10 matches. Also, the addition of Juanan and Edu Garcia has been massive as it has helped the club in stabilising their performance since the start of the season.
The evolution of Akash Mishra since he joined the club in 2020 is beyond imagination as the 20-year-old has cemented his place on the left side of the defence. The departure of Liston Colaco hasn’t had much effect on the club’s performance so far.
HFC: Interesting ISL stats
Hyderabad FC managed just 2 wins in the 2019-20 season which is a joint record in ISL for the fewest wins. They have also drawn 11 matches which is also a joint record in the Indian Super League. Their winless run of 14 matches in the 2019-20 season is also a joint record in the league.
HFC: Rivalries
Hyderabad FC are yet to stamp their authority in the league but their closest rival is their southern counterpart Bengaluru FC with whom they have been indulged in the Southern derby in the ISL.

Road Ahead for HFC
Hyderabad FC showed their might when they brought in Alberto Roca as a coach but the Spaniard had to leave the club as FC Barcelona came calling for him in the midst of a season. They handed the mantle to Manolo Marquez who has handed the responsibility very well guiding the team through the substantial challenges they faced throughout.
Co-owner Varun Tripuraneni has been very active when it comes to rebuilding the club and sorting out the mammoth barriers on their way. They have managed to tap into the vast potential Indian football has and are creating a revenue stream for the future. As of now, they have been in and around Hyderabad but they are looking at a bigger picture and have roped in Borussia Dortmund in a bid to bridge the gap.
They have also used data mining when it comes to choosing players for Hyderabad FC and it definitely has provided them with an edge as Indian clubs haven’t really invested their resources in this field. They do have an exciting lineup of players, a perfect mixture of youth blended with experience.
So the club has all the potential to be one of the future powerhouses and it seems they are heading that way only.
