Manchester United will travel to Southampton in a bid to move upwards in the Premier League on Saturday.
United showed their might in the last match as they ended Liverpool’s unbeaten Premier League run with a deserving 2-1 win over the Merseysiders.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford netted two wonderful goals while Mohamed Salah reduced the deficit for the visitors. United looked like a completely different team altogether as Erik ten Hag made some changes to the starting lineup and the result reflected on the pitch as they dominated for most of the time against Liverpool.
New signing Casemiro has completed all his formalities and will be available for the Saints match but the Brazilian international is unlikely to be risked from the start in the next match.
Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t start in the last match and the Portuguese forward could make it to the bench again as the manager won’t disturb his winning combinations.
The Red Devils are still in the market for a couple of players and Ajax forward Antony has been a subject of strong interest. Ten Hag is an avid admirer of the player and wants to bring the player to Old Trafford as the attacking department still needs some sharpening it seems.
Harry Maguire wasn’t involved as the pair of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez kept the Liverpool attacker at bay and the United captain needs to wait a bit before his chances arrive.
Southampton were involved in an EFL Cup match against Cambridge United and a number of first team players had a full 90 minutes shift. The Saints will have to be cautious against the Red Devils as fatigue could be an issue as United have been playing with high intensity in this new regime.
United haven’t grabbed a win against Southampton in the last two matches but if they replicate their display they should return with all the points.
For Southampton Che Adams’ form has been pretty evident as the forward has been on a scoring spree in the last couple of matches. In the last Premier League match against Leicester City Adams scored a brace to register a come from behind victory while he also was on the scoresheet with two goals in the EFL Cup against Cambridge United.
Che Adams also netted in the last match against the Red Devils and he will be eager to repeat his feat this time.
Home from was a subject of concern for the Saints last season and with consecutive fixtures against Manchester United and Chelsea, they need to up their ante this time.
They are currently 11th in the Premier League table and a positive result in the next match could help them enter the top ten.
